Pop art would be a good style to paint the horse in, so artists like andy Lichenstein would be good. Bright colours and quite interesting. Just search it on google to see some ideas.

Okies well it's currently night where I am so I'd pick Vincent Van Gogh's (Expressionists ~ style) "Starry Night" absolutely beautiful...
For day time I'd pick Christo's & Jeanne Claude " The Gates" it was vibrant and alive with color just how a day should be it reminded me of happier and carefree times.
