You will not be able to run repair disk in Disk Utility unless you boot from your install disk. This is a file structure problem, and it cannot be fixed with your file system mounted.
I'm not sure if you are getting this message right away, or if you are able to boot up all the way to your Desktop. If you cannot boot off your install disk the "normal" way by inserting it and following the instructions on the screen, you can insert it and start up your computer while holding down the "C" key. In the Installer's "Utilities" menu, select "Disk Utility." From there, you can "repair disk."
If for some reason you do not have your install disk handy, you can run the same repair by holding down command+S when you boot up (this will boot you into single-user mode) and then typing the command it gives you there. /sbin/fsck -fy
If it tells you it is unable to repair the disk, perform an erase and install with your install disk. If that gives you any problems, you probably have a bad hard drive. Since your computer is so new, exchange it.
If for some reason it is not possible to exchange it, call AppleCare (1-800-APL-CARE in the US) and request a box to send it in for repair. You can make a free call to AppleCare within the first 90 days, and you have a one-year warranty through Apple, so it should not cost you anything unless you have physically damaged it yourself.

Read in the help dialouge about starting your computer from the MacOSX install CD and repearing the volume using disk utility.
That should take care of your problem.
If not, you can do a fresh install of Tiger.
If you have an iPod you can back up your important data to that and then move it back. Just click on your iPod on the desktop and you can use it as a removable drive with no set up. Just drag the files you want into the iPods folder.

If I remember correct it's a filesystem error. You should be able to repair it with the disk utility on your *installation dvd*. The one in
your utility folder can recover most errors but not all of them.
Click through the first installation screens and when you get
to the "desktop" you can access the utility in the menubar.
It's the same tool you know from the utility folder.

the merely camcorders that use firewire are minidv camcorders. Flash rigidity camcorders can use both a usb wire or a card reader (that is what i take advantage of). puzzling rigidity camcorders use USB cords. Minidvd camcorders do now no longer use a USB wire or a Firewire connection. you merely placed the minidvd on your toploading dvd participant/burner.
