Nickel (Ni) is in group 10, not Neon (Ne).
Neon (atomic number 10) is in Group 18 (the Noble gases). This Group was previously called 8A or VIIIA. Please see the site below:

It is definitely not 10. On the old periodic table there were groups 1 -8 with A's and B's, and a central group.
On todays table there are 18 groups.
Neon is in the far right group which is 8 or 18. It is an inert or noble gas, that does not react, because it has 8 electrons in its outer ring.

it is a noble gas, group 18 or 8, it shouldnt be 10, 18 if you consider transition metals such as iron, titanium, zinc etc. 8 if you neglect transition metals.
PS transition metals are in the middle of the periodic table.
