yes, it will increase your leg strength, therefore your stamina...should also help you with your first step (more explosive) better stamina will allow you to play hounding defense, wearing down your man and making offense easier also...

Track is always a great off season thing to do for basketball, I ran track all through HS and it helped develop my sprinting speed. I also was a high jumper, learning to high jump taught me the proper jumping form and increased my vertical drastically. So go out have fun, get flexible cause flexibility is a huge asset to have when trying to stay injury free, and get in shape.
You can never go wrong with that!

Im sixteen and in song besides, we've a workouts during the weekdays and that they are consistently approximately an hour long. On monday we do hill paintings ( in case you do not have a hill than in simple terms paintings on sprint style including stress section, and stride length) during the hill paintings we do distinctive sprints up the hill staying as low to the floor as achievable. On Tuesday we do our weight room workouts those are somewhat puzzling we do distinctive lifts like squats, leg press, weighted jumps, potential cleans, bicep curls, bench press, and lunges. Following this we do an intensive ab workout, scissor kicks on our backs, in and outs, cycling, and ordinary sit down-ups. Following this we do bleachers (we run and 800m sprint with mixed stadium runs and backwards cycles) On Wednesday we stretch and do gentle straight forward sprints fairly emphasizing style, fairly an open day. On Thursday we repeat Tuesdays workout. On Friday we end with Plyometrics that are longer distance runs like 800 and above timed at a sequence p.c.. we regularly do a 1600m, than 1200m, than a 800m. With hurdle hops in between.

I disagree. The kids who make it big in roundball are playing 12 months a year. Running up and down the court defending and dribbling will improve your skills more than running in a straight line.
