Unless it's storming rain, or I'm not feeling well, or I'm horribly far away from the corral, I *do* return the shopping cart. :) There are two reasons for this...

1: As someone who works part-time in retail, I have to clean up lots of messes left in the aisles of the store by careless/thoughtless customers. So, I can empathize with the clerks who work at stores with shopping cards and how tiring and aggravating it is for them to round up all those carts by folks who couldn't be bothered to return the carts.

2: I've had shopping carts roll into and hit my car when people leave them all over the place in parking lots. There might not be any carts near my car when I park, but when I come back, I see someone's carelessly left cart has rolled away and hit my car. Ouch! :( So, there's another reason I like to return my cart to the corral -- I don't want it to accidentally roll into someone else's car later on.

I guess I'm just one of those fools who's "too nice"! *chuckle*

I continuously attempt this...my friends hate me for it, yet i do not care. If there is not any "cart corral" (aaaw it truly is a wonderful call for them, we call them cart go back), I take the cart again as a lot as the front of the save on the sidewalk for the save team to retrieve it. The Publix's the following in South Florida don't have any cart go back as of yet (undesirable parking zone layout plan), besides the undeniable fact that those in Atlanta do, it truly is very strange!!!! i imagine because they are more moderen shops...reliable question btw-

I return it to the corral. My car has been hit one too many times by runaway shopping carts that have been left for someone else to deal with.

I usually return it to the corral...it bugs me seeing carts all over the place especially in a parking lot where your car could probably hit the thing. To hell with damaging the cart, the cart could damage your car.

i usually always return it. I hate having shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot that you have to drive around. I like to be nice to those hard working wal mart employees

i have to admit that i usually don't return it. i try to make sure it's away from any cars though so no one's car gets damaged. i also return the cart if the corral is close enough.

i usually do not return it because the rest of the general public leaves it out there so others can deal with it so just might as well do the same to them.

over here we need to put a pound coin in to get a cart and we get it back when we return it

Depends on the weather, my time frame, and the distance to the corral.
