Can anyone tell me more about babies and swimming? I would love to teach my baby how to swim, but is it possible so soon?

We were told not to take a baby to swimming class until he/she is 6 months. Until then, they could easily drink enough water to cause water intoxication or even death. Or so they say...

Most community education baby&parent swim classes are for children older than 6 months only.

They lack the coordination to swim in the traditional sense, but many places like your local YWCA or YMCA often have "mommy & me" pool classes. I don't know their age requirements though.

I think it's good to introduce a child to swimming early - before they develop any fear of the water. Good luck!

No, they don't have enough muscle control yet. At your local pool, they should have mommy and me swim lessons starting from about 6 months or so... they do at mine anyways

I guess anything is possible under EXTREMELY close supervision, I mean like hands on supervision. In my opinion though, 3 monthes is a little young.
