okay so basically im 13 and i cant have a myspace. I know that you have to be like 14 or 15 or something to get one, but no one really listens to that rule. All my friends have one and people always expect me to have one(if you no wht i mean) and i always tell my mom that i will only put it on private and only add friends from school. I once got one behind her back and she found out. And i no she still wouldnt of let me get one even if i didnt go behind her back. I wouldnt put real info on ther,like my real name, or city, i would just make one up or something. AND I WOULD PUT IT ON PRIVATE...my mom is really complicated..what should i tell her??please help.

I'm 13 ((almost 14))I have this same problem. Except it's with my father. This is what he does. He made a myspace and he checks on mine. Nothing bad has happened and all and I can careless about it. So really if you do that so your mother can check up on you than that's a good thing. You wouldn't need to hide it from her just show it to her and she'll gain your trust.
And erikuhh xD: myspace isn't addictive. It's called they need to get a real life because i've had mine for 3 years and my grades went up. So all that crap about myspace being bad and "evil" is so not true.
And Zombie: The only reason why they are getting raped is because they are sluts that want people to look at their myspace. They to need to get a life because it's them that bring it upon themselves. Maybe their parents should look at their myspaces and stop "ignoring" the signs

Well i have myspace but i am 27 years old and yes mine is private too.
I think that young kids really don't need to be on myspace for how they do give out info. All it would take is someone pretending to be a young boy and talk so nice to a girl and she would give up what her name is and where she lives.
Your mom has her reasons for why she does not want you to have myspace.
All myspace is- is a page with graphics/photos and music on it, it is not like you are missing out on something major. I hardly check mine anymore. Just wait.

I think that you should get a Facebook instead of Myspace. I have both and my parents are always getting on to me about that kind of stuff. I love Facebook, it is mainly school-wide. You can add all of your friends or not add them, you put on common things not really personal like Myspace. You can get into different groups such as: School wide, Funny ones, etc. But if you really want a Myspace I would tell her that you would let her check it like every Friday to make sure that your not adding weirdos that you don't know and her..And not putting and pictures that she wouldn't like and not putting any personal things on there!

Don't get a MySpace. 13 is too young to have one. My friend's friend is 12 and got addicted to it; then, her grades went down because all she did was take pictures of herself put them on her MySpace, update her MySpace, request everyone she knew as her friend, etc. Besides, there are a lot of risks of having a MySpace. Predators stay on it for most of the day looking for easy target to attack.
Why have a MySpace when you can socialize with your friends in school and stuff and they already know you? There's no point in having a Myspace where the people who are your friends on there already talk and know you. Isn't MySpace for adults to find friends or relationships?

There's a reason why your mom won't let you have an account...she's scared for you! Eventhough you told her all the precausions you would take, she doesn't believe you because you've already gone behind her back. There are hundreds of girls who "took" the same precaustions and ended up hurt, many girls were raped. You're mother's just scared for you, the best thing you can do is earn her trust back. If she says no, let it go and show her your maturity level. When the time comes, she'll evenually let you. Beside, even i think that a 13 year old is too young o be using myspace.

Listen to your mom. Too many girls are getting raped from that site. It needs to be shut down. Or at girls shouldn't be allowed to use the Internet. Anyway it's easy for a pedophile to get your info even if you don't post it on the page.

im 13 and i have a myspace. its cool and all, but its basically a place to socialize. if you say your adding people from school then why can't you socialize with them there? try to tell your mom that you wont post any personel information.

i think that since you put so much personal insight on your home page for yahoo!answers which any one with a yahoo address can get onto then you wouldn't mind putting "more" insight to your life with a personal sight, and plus with you being only 13 and probably in junior high, i think your mothers right you should just drop the whole my-space thing. you don't crucially need one, you just want one because your friends have one, but truth is, and you know it, you don't need one!

Okay i know how you feel, i am 12 and basically all my friends have my spaces, but hun you really DONT want a myspace account, myspace is pretty much a website to advertise slutty girls and pimpish boys, if you have a myspace account you are advertizing yourself to rapists and sexual predators all around, it is sooooo easy to get sexually assaulted by using myspace, you really might think its cool but its not, just dont do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any one can look at your pics and go and find you dont do it
