unfortunately, taking personal responsibility is not "chic" these days. having illegitimate children, then expecting the taxpayer's dollar IS.

It seems to me the only simple-minded one here is the one who can only see one point of view hence simple-minded. It is a woman's right to choose, no matter what the circumstances were. I feel sorry for your loved ones if you cant see past your own agenda to understand sometimes abortion is best. Even now with abortions legal not every child put up for adoption will find a loving home, even now with abortions legal thousands of children are lost in an already failing foster care system. If you have a solution for an extra 10,000 children a year, than I'm ready to listen but if all you can do is preach than keep it to yourself, I've heard it all before. Do you think your the only right-wing idiot who sits on his high horse day after day preaching what the rest of us should do while he does nothing but flap his lips. I agree with Luis 110%!!!!!!!

No, no one tells a woman she has to get pregnant, but if abortions were illegal it would take away the woman's right for some woman not all but some. Like woman who were raped or woman who's birth control did not work like they thought it would.

We need to understand the basics in its proper context. Onset of biological events are concerned no body has control. Thus result is a natural course. To discuss right of women in the context which it is discussed is misdirected. The real question is whether in a given situation is it convienient for a lady to continue with biological activity in her is the real question. The right of lady to be dealt is her convienience. That is persnal.

Well, because some people believe fetus is not really a person at some point and that many people don't want the pregnancy for the mistake they made.
They'd rather not have other people make their moral choices for them.
B4 there were tons of messy illegal abortions.

Being pro-life and an extreme left democrat I completely understand your point. I always argue abortion debates that the only case where abortion is acceptable is if having the child is a life risk to the mother. Yes if having a child will kill the mother or both the child and the mother THEN you can choose abortion in my opinion. But the fact that most people do it just because they were accidental pregnancies no that's not acceptable in my opinion. Because you're right, nobody held a gun to her head and told her to get pregnant. She knows about birth control, she knows about diaphragms and she knows about condoms. It's not the baby's fault she chose not to take advantage of any of those things, so don't punish the baby by depriving it a chance at life.
The only thing I'm torn on is rape, as I have been raped myself and didn't have to worry about the pregnancy aspect of it (I cannot physically have children), but I fully believe you can have a child who was product of rape and either keep it or give it up for adoption. The "emotional problems" everyone thinks a baby from rape will give them, can easily be solved by visiting a therapist. In fact, I know a person who WAS the product of a rape. Her mother was raped and got pregnant and she kept the child. After working through her issues with therapy both of them are great women now. In fact the child had more problems than the mother with being a product of rape.
I want to know how many of you that are preaching about choice for rape have gone through a rape. I HAVE and I'm telling you, you CAN work through the issues of being raped while still not depriving the child it's life.

Maybe when you have raised a couple of children in minimum wage, then we'll gladly hear what you have to say about abortion. In the mean time what you ought to be doing is telling all those priests who took a vow of chastity to keep their hands off of the altar boys. When Jesus said "suffer the little children come on to me" that's not what he was talking about. Conservatives are all about helping the unborn but once you're born you're on your own. No health care, no welfare, no fod stamps, no school lunch no nothing. They don't care about you until you reach military age. Then they think you are just fine, just what they've been looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers

Did you, by chance , not clearly think through your question before posting it. Have you not heard of rape or the date rape drug... or forced incest??? Come on, dude, surely you are more with it than this !!! Truly, you have no reason to call someone simple minded when posting a question like this.

No one tells a woman to get pregnant. Many women have unplanned pregnancies. Surely you are not so naive as to believe that birth control is fool proof?
