I have always pictured myself as being single my whole life and happy. However, when I tell my friends and family this, they just laugh always say that I will change my mind in the future. My mom even gets sort of mad of me. It drives me crazy that they don't take me seriously. And then they say that I will be lonely for sure. I feel suffocated when I think of myself as being married. I'm not married now and I'm totally happy with that and I'm not lonely. Is there anyone who shares the same opinion?

I was married, and it was not at all what I imagined. I am divorced and much happier now. I think it's just a personal choice and people should not feel pressured into it.

I was married for 18 yrs and never thought that I would be single again. But now I h/b divorced for 13 yrs and am loving being single. I don't really date much anymore, but I have friends I go out with and I really enjoy my independence. Sometimes I miss the companionship of not having a husband to come home to and talk to when I've had a bad day, but at my age (51) I'm just tired of picking through the bad guys to try to find a good one.

You are comfortable with who you are and what you want out of life and that is ok. People change however; and sooner or later you will meet someone that will maybe change your mind. After two divorces i was totally happy with the thought of being single for the rest of my life. I was single for 8 years... then I met my fiance'...

You are not alone! Marriage can be overrated. some of my marriaged friends are lonely!
