I am writing an article and am challenging common stereotypes (e.g. All lesbians are feminists) and false impressions (e.g. Lesbians become lesbians because they were sexually abused / hate men) about lesbians and would love some input from the LGTB crowd as well as hetero folks out there. I am staying away from the topic of religion, so no need to go there, and please, no hatred. All help is appreciated - personal experiences would be awesome too! Thanks!

That we're all butch, hate men, are feminists, wear flannel, will let men have sex with us/join in, want to be men (lesbian /=/ FTM transsexual)... stuff like that.

THAT WE ARE ALL 'MANLY' IN APPEARANCE AND THAT WE ARE ALL MAN HATERS OR WANT TO BE MEN.
To cadaholic, It is normal behavior for us and there is no way that gay people will cause the population to die off. Although, the way people are behaving these days, maybe that would be the best solution. To Curious George, lesbian sex is HOT and not for a man's entertainment.

One that was expressed to me when I first purchased a house and lived with my Gwenneth was that I couldn't get a man and had to steal/seduce their daughter.
Religion played a great deal in their hatred but I will just leave it at that.
Oh, at our office where we met a sweet young thing once said "Look, here come the SPINSTERS. Couldn't get a man to save themselves".

Oh, such things as that they always wear plaid, they never wear skirts or dresses, that they hate men, they can change the oil in motor vehicles, they can't cook, they look like men...
I've got two Lesbian cousins and only one likes to wear plaid. One of them never wears skirts or dresses, but the other one does on special occasions. Neither of them hate men and nor do they look like men. One can cook (the plaid wearer), the other cannot.
And much to my annoyance neither of them can do an oil change, so I have to either do it myself or take it into a shop. Damn.

That we are all big, manly, ugly, man-hating, beasts that want to jump on every woman that we see.
My least favorite one is the one about jumping on every girl I see. I respect and admire women. I would never treat them that way.

That they are all crabby and hate everybody. I can honestly say I've never met a lesbian I didn't like.
