Adding RAM to a laptop is often impossible, there's probably no spot inside to put external RAM.

Hi there.

There are "very" few laptops that do accept full size memory sticks, however, laptops often use smaller memory modules to save space. Memory types used in laptops include:

Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (SODIMM) - the most common used due to it's smaller size than DDR or SDRAM.
Micro Dual Inline Memory Module (MicroDIMM) - newer technology
Dual Data Rate Synchronous RAM (DDR SDRAM)
Single data rate Synchronous RAM (SDRAM)
Proprietary memory modules

There are many SODIMMS that uses the DDR or SD or even DDR2 technology.

So in conclusion, you'll have to look at your laptop model's manual in the memory section to see what kind of memory sticks you can use in it.

Here's a site that you can go to, and choose the manufactor's name of your laptop on right hand side, and choose the model number, and it'll display what kind of RAM your laptop supports.

Hope this helps

Probably not. Laptops and desktops use different formats of memory. THe memory from the desktop won't fit into the laptop.

The only way to increase the memory in the laptop is to get another laptop memory module.
