Take That quit at the right time. They quit at the top. I remember when they split up, there was special phone lines set up for people who couldnt cope.
Lets say Westlife split up, do you think there will be phone lines set up. Nope (even though they are crap), they have outstayed there welcome.
The thing is that bands like 5ive and All Saints jumped on the bandwagon. They were not missed like Take That were. That is why fundamentally they will fail.
That said, if this was Gary Barlows comeback solo album, i daresay it would be troubling the top end of the charts.

I was a devout Take That hater 1st time around but this time I actually think their songs have some artistic merit and are a little bit of an ok slice of pop!
I think they're huge because not only have they made a comeback, not only have they made a successful comeback, not only have they made a comeback when Robbie Williams' career is on the wane, they have made a credible comeback.
Boybands and credibility don't usually go together so there could be your answer! Plus, in addition to their new-found credibility which has won them new fans, they are also tapping into their original fan base. Which was, admittedly, huge!

The thing about Take That is unlike most other boy bands they actually play instruments & write their own material.
Also, how many bands popular today will even be heard of in 10 years let alone at number one in the charts.
Why do people always have to knock other's success?

I have no idea either. I missed the Take That craze when I was younger and although I think Shine is catchy, I wouldn't rave about them. But they did have a huge fan base when they were first around, so their fans must not have forgotten them.
I honestly have no idea why they are such a hit.

They were bigger than big originally and now all the young girls who loved them (and the oldies too) have another chance to relive the good old days
