Corporations like Clearchannel Communications and Infinity Broadcasting have bought most of the radio stations in the U.S. and are homogenizing rock music. That's why most of the songs on radio sound similar, and why you think My Chemical Romance is punk.
Punk has a very anti-establishment mentality and, thus, isn't radio friendly. It's still out there, but you have to look for it. You won't find punk bands signed to a major label or playing on the bubblegum top forty station that's giving away front-row tickets to the upcoming H.I.M. concert. But put forth the effort to look for the independent artists, the group practicing in a garage and playing in dank holes-in-the-wall and living on bologna sandwiches, because they're the ones keeping rock alive.
And do some research. Explore the origins of the punk scene, England's as well as America's.
The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, The Ramones, The Germs, Black Flag, The Minutemen, Dead Kennedys, Fear, Bad Brains, Agent Orange, The Vandals, Husker Du. These bands are worth looking into.

Most of the answers you have recieved are complete bollocks.
Punks did not come out in the eighties. Punk came out in 1976.
It hit the headlines when The Sex Pistols swore on live television when interviewed by Bill Grundy. The Mohawk is a product of hardcore punk that came out in the early eighties. In the movie Sid and Nancy there were punks with mohawks in the audience.
This is pure bollocks. The Sex Pistols brocks up in 1978 there were no mahawks until the eighties.
The Sex Pistols lasted from 1976-1978. So what is all this crap about punk being 1980's.
See the movie " The Filth and the Fury and find out about the real punk. Not Green Day.

My chemical romance is not even close to punk rock its emo top 40 crap. Green day are just another pop rock band. If you want to listen to some genuine punk rock try NOFX, Lagwagon, Bad Religion or Pennywise

Those bands aren't even punk! Real punk is the Sex Pistols, early Social Distortion. Real punk is punk from the 80's. Not to be mean, but get your head out of your as.s and research punk from the 80's. Watch "The Decline of Western Civilization, The Punk Years"

Punk just got played out. It was edgy for a while, but then it faded. It became exactly what it was never meant to be- a style. Punk was never even supposed to be a style of music. It was a state of mind. There hasn't been a real punk band since the early eighties and there probably won't be any ever again. And mohawks haven't been cool since London in 1980. And sometimes, even then, they weren't cool.

The best punk rock predating your selections there are the "Sex Pistols" so check them out. Punk rocks old school and they're diminishing fast. Get some vinyl records to get punks spirit !
"Green day"s actually grunge more-so than punk. "My chemical romance" is alternative near punk.

Punk rock moves around and stays around. First popped up in the 80's in Britian so now it is full of oldies stuff for old folks too.
