Ok last week me and my boyfriend had sex, the following night I forgot to take my pill. Then 2 nights after I got a virus I had vomiting and diarrhoea (cant spell it) been taking my pill ever since but I've been having spotting of brownish discharge. And been getting alot of headaches, at least 5 everyday. Could I be pregnant or is it just the affect of the virus leaving my system?

Dear "Confused,"
Firstly, do not let everyone on here get you freaking out. I read the one above mine and it's HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY unlikely you have anything like what she says, that is ridiculous that you would have something like what she is suggesting that would show up within two days of contraction. However, I do agree with her suggestion you GO TO THE DOCTOR.

Also you should take a pregnancy test to be sure, but most likely what is happening is all your nausea and headaches is related to the virus.

It would be incredibly unlikely that you are showing those symptoms already, as most of them don't show up until AT LEAST 2 weeks into pregnancy if not after the first month. Also, if you were on the pill the night you had sex, you are fine. If you forgot the night after, it's not the best, but the point is that you were covered the night of.

The spotting is a result of you having missed your pill, especially if you have just recently (within the last 6-8 months) started taking it. It's called "break-through bleeding" and it could continue for another week. There should have been an information packet in the box the pills came in and you should read it. It explains wht happens with break-through bleeding and some of the side effects of taking the pill.

The reason it is brownish is because of the way it is coming out of your body, it is not your time for a period and the tissue coming out is not fully formed, as well you are not in the best of health right now and I am sure that it doesn't help that your body is "caught of guard" with a "surprise" period.

I hope you feel better soon and that this information helped. Please GO TO THE DOCTOR and get a pregnancy test to be sure.

The spotting could be caused by you forgetting to take your pill. Your hormones are affected by the pill, and that controls your menstral cycle. If you don't take it then your body thinks it is time for a period and starts the process. You started taking the pill again before the cycle completed and so now your body is trying to stop the period, hence the spotting. If you did not have sex the night your forgot your pill then you can't be pregnant, but you can always take a test to ease your mind. The virus is probably the cause of the headaches, there are some nasty one around. If the headaches don't go then see your doctor, you may need medication to clear the virus from your system.

Sounds like it's time to visit the doctor.
That "virus" could be just the initial body changes of pregnancy. Some women feel like they are sick after getting pregnant--i.e. they feel like they have the flu. Spotting and brownish discharge could be signs that you did get pregnant and some bad is going on--like placenta previa, abruptio placenta, etc. These are bad things that can kill you during pregnancy.

The other thing I think of when you say a viral type illness after sex with your boyfriend is HIV and other STDs. About 30-40 percent of people get a "flu-like" illness or symptoms several days to weeks after getting infected with HIV. Gonnorhea can cause discharge, so can Trichomonas (which are both very treatable infections, but without treatment can lead to sterility--which means you'd never be able to have children).

The headaches are a sign that something is not right in your body. You are either infected with something or are pregnant.

I would schedule an appointment with your family doctor immediately. If you have severly worsening headache, nausea, vomitting, change in behavior, exessive sleepiness, loss of consciousness, increased bleeding, abdominal pain, changes in vision or irretractable fever, I would go the ER immediately.

I hope this doesn't scare you, because it could just all be coincidence and you might just be freaking out about nothing--i.e. you could just have spotting from missing the bcp and happen to be infected with a virus at the same time, but when you mentioned your story and your symptoms, a bunch of red flags went off in my head. Good luck. Best of health.

It's unlikely that you are pregnant. The spotting is because you missed a pill and the hormone levels fluctuated, it's unlikely the they dipped low enough for you to ovulate. The headaches are probably because you are dehydrated from vomiting and the diarrhea, the pill may have a minor role to play. Drink more water and you should be fine.

you would not know within a week of having intercourse whether you were pregnant or not,if at any time you forget to take your pill and have intercourse you should always contact your gp for a morning after pill just incase.it does sound to me that it is the virus leaving your system,i would contact your gp,and get it properly diagnosed or if you can not get a quick enough appointment, then chemists are now trained in many areas and there is usually a lady present who you can talk to and she might be able to help.take care

After the toddler is born have the paternity attempt regardless. If the toddler is yours then it particularly is yours. Now that regulate into trouble-free. yet, if the toddler isn't yours then 2 issues can take place, you are able to settle for the new child or reject the new child. the two way the toddler merits to have a medical background of his organic and organic father and that side of the relatives. accompanied babies are on occasion scoffed at yet they're chosen, on occasion fought for and constantly needed. it particularly is extra advantageous than some organic babies can say. So what ever you do, what ever you verify, get the new child a medical background of his organic and organic father even though who that is.

If you are on a low dosage pill then forget its contraception protection. Your upset stomach and bowels will completely negate the pill's effect therefore rendering it useless. What you are experiencing is no doubt the virus. You should have taken the 'morning after' pill to be on the safe side.

I think you should go to your local Genito Urinary (GU) Clinic for a check up. They can examine you and give you professional advice anonymously if you wish. It could be nothing but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Yeh you could be pregnant, but it's a bit on the unlikely side. Pop down to your gp and tell them, they will find out sharpish what the problem is.
