I have one computer now that uses a broadband connection to get online, and I'd like to get a second computer online as well. How do I do it? Is there equipment I can buy or do I have to go through my ISP?

Go with a wireless router (fairly inexpensive) this way your not bothered by wires running around your house or apartment. The router comes with a disk that has the easy instructions and most of the time will practically set itself up by finding the answers to the questions it needs in order to install the network. Go to your local Wal-Mart or electronic depot and pick up the router(s). Wireless routers also let you use a VOIP phone and get rid of your traditional phone and phone bill..... Good Luck!

Buy a router from Wally World. Most have four or five ports so you could connect several computers thru your one broadband connection.

You do NOT need a wireless router(as stated above), but it is about the same price and is good to have IF you have wireless on your computer or plan on buying one in the future.
Wireless routers also have wired ports (mine has four) so you can run wired and wireless off the same router. ($49.95 at Walmart)

You need to get a router to put between the broadband modem and your first computer. These are fairly inexpensive and will run from about $25 and up.

If you chose to get a wireless router, your other computer can then be wireless by getting it a wireless network card in it rather than just a network card. This will allow you to install it practically anywhere in the house without having to run a wire to it from the router.

You need to purchse a Router (Linksys, Netgear) and connect your modem to the router and your 2 PCs to the router switch.
Follow the directions that comes with router if unsure how to connect.
If your second PC is in another part of the house you can get a wireless router and you will also need a wireless Nic card for your PC.

THE ETHERNET HUB IS USED to operate extra pc'S IF THE ROUTER ETHERNET JACKS ARE ALL getting used ALREADY WITH different pc'S. THE LINKSYS you've would properly be a stressed OR prompt ROUTER.they offer the impact of being very virtually similar IN colour AND structure except A prompt would have different ANTENNAS,in a great number of cases 2 connected TO THE ROUTER.look on the bottom OF THE ROUTER on the id TAG TO GET THE style# OF THE ROUTER.bypass to LINKSYS.COM AND discover YOUR ROUTER via style volume.in case you may receive software to between the computers,GET THE SET-UP software FROM THE DOWNLOADS AT LINKSYS AND USE THAT pc to position in AND SET-UP THE ROUTER.once you GET the pc on-line via the ROUTER THAN you may want to be in a position to connect A 2d pc also TO the internet mutually.attempt to connect THE CABLE TO THE ROUTER and then on your pc FIRST to work out in case you may connect with out THE software.in case you may, attempt to connect A 2d pc and word IF THAT ONE WILL bypass on-line also.solid success.

you can buy a wireless router and set up a wireless home network, or a wired router and run wires around your home. You should be able to share the connection between 2 or more computers.

You'll need a wireless router. You can buy them at any electronic store. Not sure if it's wireless..that may not be it but if you go to the store they will help you out.
