I wish I knew that. Fear, ignorance, perhaps it is the way they were brought up. Racism is as useless as trying to grow corn without the cob. It just doesn't happen. Embrace other cultures is my motto. There is so much to learn. It is the complexion of their skin. Nothing more. They are human, put their pants on one leg at a time, feel pain, suffering, remorse, love, bleed the same way. It really is a waste of energy to be a racist.

My high school was really diverse, but at lunch time blacks sat together, Arabs sat together...there was no mixing. There's a natural tendency to gravitate towards people of one's own race. And it's not necessarily bad--what's bad is when you attack someone based solely on their race.
Then you have characters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who like to stir the pot. They're instigators.
I also resent the "woe is me, my ancestor was a slave" attitude. Know what, I'm part Cherokee, my ancestors were given a raw deal, and I'm not demanding reparations. Also--I had French, British, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish ancestors, and they were killing each other off!
Demanding a free ride because of what happened to your ancestors or because of your race is what fans the flames. I say get over it and take charge of your own life--YOU are responsible, stop blaming the white man!

Most people of the opposite race are imtimidated by the other as if one is better thatn the other one. You know where it all started. But why would you worry about why now, when there is certain types of freedom of speech! Racism should be easy to ignore. You still have to live your life. People I don't even think about the other color because now we are all one kind if there is one type of heart. Even if there isn't all one kind I still have to go on with my life regardless of how they think of me. EVERYBODY NOT RACIST!

This is one theory:
Isolated People
Less Educated
Fearful of Change
Many negative past experiences
Narrow-minded
People from an Authoritarian Background (Told what to do)
People with serious self-esteem problems
Collectively this usually leads to someone being racist.

The usual social science BS, here. Better to ask, " why did we evolve in group/out group psychology? Research the Pleistocene evolved history of man. We were not always multicultural. We still are not all multicultural.
