Pretty much all art other than basic representational art has come under criticism over the last 150-200 years. Read Ross King's JUDGMENT OF PARIS and Michael Kammen's VISUAL SHOCK for reactions to everything from Impressionism to Neo-Realism and beyond.

Emperor schwemperor, he's not just stupid with his money he's mindlessly and confusingly changing the understanding of what art (Art?) was, is, and can be. But there, I'm envious of Becksie, McCartney, the Sultan of Brunei etc too - not just Emin, Hirst et alia, the lucky ones.

I`d say for all us "normal" folks - most definately.

For those select few that seem to live in an entirely different world, it might be different though.

i don't know, but i wouldn't cross the street to see a jasper johns exhibit. light bulbs that have been spray painted gold? pure crap.
