Ok what does it mean when you are having intercourse with your partner and you guys either:

Hold eye contact for 10 seconds and you still try to hold it but he then stares at the wall

Or hold eye contact through the whole thing(Do people do that)?

What else and what is the meaning?

it's okay to not have eye contact throughout the entire thing. don't worry too much about it. Girls are more into passionate things like that and guys are too but they just dont know you want it all the time. You should talk to him.

Eye contact usually puts the person in the here and the now; when someone is staring at you, you can't ignore that person so you are brought into awareness of the here and now.

Even when two people are having sex, it is as much psychological as it is physical. Obviously, your partner is not feeling the exact same feelings as you are feeling (doubly true if its man/woman) so what they are doing is feeling their feelings and imaging (based upon your reactions) what you must be feeling.

Also, prolonged eye contact is usually thought of to be an expression of threat or ill-intent or of something 'wrong' (imagine the last time someone other than your partner 'stared' at you) so that some people, even confronted with eye-contact with their partner, can feel squeamish.

Sometimes it can reveal insecurities in the relationship, but that can only be determined on an individual basis.

People who are totally in love with another person, who want to be in the here and the now (because here and now is the 'best' place to be) can hold eye contact for a long long time, even throughout, but it doesn't have to happen every time. Like anything else, it can ebb and flow.

Perhaps, your trying to hold eye contact comes across as trying to 'force' your way into your partner's feelings, which will also make them turn away. Even if they are into you, feeling as if someone is trying to make you be where they are can make them turn away. Everything has to be taken in context.

My ex-wife seemed to think that by talking about anything other than what we were doing that it was OK.Sometimes she would stare at the clock too.If the person you are with doesn't seem to be as interested in you as much as what they are doing they might be thinking of someone or something else instead. If they are really nervous about getting caught this could be another reason especially if your parents are home and you're a minor. What does that mean?
