I have both Ipod and Zune. I prefer the Zune. I consider the screen going off instead of dimming a step up. This extends battery life. The battery lasts a lot longer than the Ipod. My Zune is much more scratch resistant than my Ipod. It seems to be more ruggedly built. The screen is bigger, and that is a big plus. I can listen to the radio on it if I want to. Although Zune has Wi-Fi I don't really care about that right now. I could never get used to the Ipod touch control. The Zune controls are more simple and straightforward.

I have used both and I prefer the iPod. The Zune is nice, and the larger display is a cool feature, but it seems so unrefined and cumbersome compared to the iPod. With the Zune's controls it takes a long time to scroll through a long list of songs, not so with an iPod. I also don't like how a Zune's display will go off after a certain amount of time, and not just dim like the iPod. The Zune interface requires a lot more user input and is not as simplified as the one Apple has created.
The wireless feature of the Zune is in my opinion overhyped and unimportant. For one thing, there are never any Zunes around to transfer music to. And if you do find one, the recipient can only play it three times or have three days to play it. It's a lot easier to just copy music from your friends computer or burn a CD for them.
The accessory market is at this point more in the iPod's favor. While a few companies have started to support the Zune, the iPod's market just continues to grow with each day.
In my opinion the Zune is more hype than a legitimate iPod rival. I prefer my iPod, and I love using it everyday.
