We would like to visit some early colonial historical places, have good food and feel right at home on a week's vacation.

You have to go to Boston of course. Plan on touring at least a day or 2, do the Freedom Trail, very interesting tour. Then you could visit Lexington and Concord. You can also take a trip down to Plimouth Plantation and see the Mayflower. If you have more time go to Newport RI and tour the Mansions. You can do everything and stay at the same hotel in Boston. Maybe you could rent a car or take the train to your different excursions.There are some wonderful restaurants, don't miss the North End (Boston's little Italy). Have fun, there is so much to do! You will have a great time!
