As a former castmember, I tend to agree with you that many of the rides, attractions and shows are updated.
They do try to expand and redo but I don't think they make as strong an effort as they could and should.

If you will look at the attractions since the park opened, you will see that Disney is constantly updating. I went to Disney on my honeymoon 14 years ago, and in that time they have built a new park (Animal Kingdom) a couple of new resorts, and added:
Test Track
Mission Space
Updated It's a Small World
Updated Pirates of the Caribbean (Capt. Jack Sparrow is now there)
Updated the Hall of Presidents, adding Bill Clinton and Pres. Bush
Added the Monster's Inc. attraction in Tomorrowland, not to mention completely re-vamping Tomorrowland.
Added Stitch's wild ride
Added Winnie the Pooh' Adventures
and the list goes on. Every year something gets updated and changed. I for one am glad that some of the attractions are the same, it brings me back to when I was there when I was little. Now I can share those same memories with my kids.
And to the person who answered above me, if you don't like Disney, don't go. If you don't like America, get your backside out!

Disney does update - or perhaps the better choice is expand.
For countless of (small/young) children, the "1970`s Disney feel" is the magic. They don`t care about the newest rollercoaster, they want to hug Mickey, get Pluto`s autograph (or pawprint) or have their picture taken with Winnie The Pooh.
I do agree with the expensive part though.
In Disneyland Resort Paris, bags are checked - and ALL foodstuffs and drinks get taken out, as these are not allowed in.
So, no, i do not think Disney is dated. It is merely a magical place for kids, that thinks every 5 year old has $1000 of pocketmoney every week..

Disney seems dated because they keep doing the same thing over and over. The 3D movies and simulator rides unloading into a gift shop that catches you at your weakest moment. It all bleeds from one park to another from one decade to another.Disney is like a minature America that believes it can produce the same things it did in the past and grow by making more and more.Americans do not take off work and just lay around so going to Disney is like recreational busy work. What one does is unimportant-just appear occupied.
Parents pass Disney on to their children but I wonder what is the minimum dose required since it is expensive like a vaccine.American is the greatest so Disney must be the same, that means you are the problem not the system.I live near Disney and I go to watch the ugly American, being there generates hope that I can escape Disney today and America tomorrow.
Only a member of the Disney clergy can say repainting is an improvement. They removed the Skyway ride and replaced the 20,000 Leagues ride with a padded playground featuring autumn colors.Love it or leave it is the American way so people buy foreign cars and when they try to catch up it is too late.Disney rides do not have the humor of the films, the Nemo ride has clamshell cabs which could have been sardine cans.
Some kind of punishment model must exist that makes imagineers turn a positive experience into a scary letdown like Expedition Everest and Mission Space. The Yeti in the mountain sounds like the monster in Tora Bora.Parents have fewer children nowdays so they do not think menacing threats are character building. The children I see at Disney look like teacher's pets and the parents are spanning the generation gap by telling them to shut up and keep marching.Turtle Talk with Crush is humorous and pacifist and needs repeating.

All the theme parks are right around the same price here in Orlando, and if you compare what they have to offer (entertainment, food, hospitality, something for everyone, etc...) to Walt Disney World you'll see that WDW is extremely affordable.
Yes, in the Magic Kingdom most of the rides are from the 1970's considering that is when the park opened (10.1.71 to be exact), but that is what helped make WDW, what it is today. They do refurbish the rides quite a bit too. Where they don't "change" the ride just clean it up and update it a little. But once again go to Universal Studios (Orlando) and their rides are also "dated" from the 1990's.

Disney World is a magical place for little kids. They love seeing Mickey, Minnie.... all the other characters off of the countless Disney shows and movies. They forget about everything once they see that sign that has Mickey on it. Adults who have been there before remember when they were kids and first saw the rides. If Disney were to change their 1970's look, it wouldn't be the same .

Disney World is continually updating. Depending on which park you visited some areas are intended to look like the 50's -modern era.
If you go again there are many books about the "WDW" that can give many ideas on where the best meal deals are.
I've been there many times and recently we have gone at least every two years or less. When you go you do have to realize it can be costly. If you'veever been to a professional sport check out their prices for a hot dog & a beer.

No I don't think Disney is dated. They are constantly updating, and in fact most big Disney fans freak out when they try to take out things that have been there for a long time.
