The highest gig processor(Pentium 4 or eqiuvalent),a graphics card-I have an ATI Radeon 9250 because I cant afford any of the X series(but I love it), you'll need a sizeable hard drive, at least 1 DVD burner, and the most sophisticated motheboard, and a sound card. There are probably more items available but these are the bulk of what youll need; and you want be sure you have a gaming system that is compatible with game requirements ABOVE the minimum each game calls for. You should start with at least 1 gig of memory(1024mb). I also understand that Sony products are outstanding as well as athlon. Accepting only the highest quality products will guarentee many years of computer gaming and less headaches later. PC gaming is by far the best platform. With this knowledge you should have an idea where to get started in making a wise decision in one of your most expensive and valuable purchases. Best Wishes

Well if you want to go all out, you can spend upwards of $6,000 for a good one. But, if you want one that will play everything on high mode, or whatever, its alot cheaper. I am also building my computer, I will have about $1100 in it, and it'll play oblivion easily on high mode, or Neverwinter Nights 2.

Good gaming computer -

Motherboard - ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2

Processor - AMD Athlon X2 5200+

Ram - 1 - 2 gigs CORSAIR XMS2 DDR2 (512 or 1 gig per stick)

Harddrive - Seagate or Western Digital (I prefer Seagate) I also find it better to run windows on a 40gig partition, it seems to load faster and stay more reliable.

Graphics Card - GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI Express x16 ( 1 or 2, you can always upgrade to 2 later)

Power supply - Id go with a good brand, Antec or something, also 600 or above if you want to do SLI right off or later.

DVD - Something thats good, like the one im getting is the Lite-on 20x or the Nec 18x writer, both fairly cheap and reliable. The Nec ive been using for about 5 months, and so far its been working perfect.

Sound Card - NOt really needed, but if you want a better experience, id get one, probably with a front plate as well. Kinda expensive for a good one, but its also not needed.

Theres other small things you can add, different fans, cooling things, thermal paste...etc.

Really Good computer -

Motherboard, (Id go with the same as above)

Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+

Ram - 4 gigs of Corsair Dominator 2 ram, really expensive, really fast.

Hard drive - Again a Seagate or western digital, but something that has a 10000 RPM or faster.

Graphics card - Nvidia Geforce 8800 SLI, Really expensive, but for a great gaming experience, the 8800 is the way to go, also its the only card that supports Direct X10 as of now, to my knowledge.

Power Supply - Probably something that is 1000watts. Two 8800 will use alot of power, and having high end stuff will also take alot.

DVD - Probably the same as above, but Id get 2.

Sound Card - For this computer I would get something that had alot of features and control, expensive but needed for a great gaming computer.

So yeah, Im not sure how good you mean, but the first setup will be more then good for gaming. The other one is for people who play games at all times, as well as all the new ones, or use heavy programs...etc. Just depends. If you have the money, id get the better one.

www.newegg.com
www.tigerdirect.com

I suggest those, they seem to have the most competitive prices. I would stay away from ebay for the most part, I havent had trouble yet, but for my computer I am buying retail so I get all the warranties and all that. Hope this helps.
