Get the The Departed or The Prstige. Both are really good and I'm going to watch The Prestige for the second time tonight.

It's an older one, but if you haven't seen "The Usual Suspects" with Kevin Spacy, you gotta try it. It's violent and you've got to pay attention to the plot, but it's got some great plot twists and the ending will knock you for a loop!
If you don't mind violence in your films, you might also try "Boondock Saints" with Willem Dafoe and Billy Connolly. Terrific and unusual.
"Inside Man" with Denzel Washington is also a really good film.
You didn't mention what type of movie you're interested in, so it makes it harder to make recommendations.
If you'd like something for family viewing, that both kids and adults can enjoy, "Second-Hand Lions" with Robert Duval, Michael Caine and Haley Jo Osmet is wonderful and "The Princess Bride", directed by Rob Reiner with a terrific cast, is just great fun!

The Departed is a great movie. Also, the Will Ferrel movie Stranger Than Fiction is pretty good.

Narrow it down a bit, comedy, adventure, sci-fi,....
I seem to be a bit behind but I just saw The Notebook recently and it was very good.
Liked The Illusionist with Ed Norton also.
