I've play piano for the past fours years and I just started playing guitar this past December. I play piano almost by ear, but the guitar I feel is going to take a but of longer time to get used to all the different chord and hand positions for them. Don't just tell me to keep on practicing, but give me some advice on what I could do to help me get better, some more pratices that I could do(b/c I feel as if I don't have enough), and give me what worked gor you if you play guitar.

Well i did the same transition that you did, but i did it more than four years ago..i think my mind still thinks in a more linear pattern like on the keyboards..i do think guitar playing is harder to master, it seemed easy to know which keys to hit to stay in the same Key on the keyboard, but on the guitar memorizing scale positions is tougher - for me anyway..i think the one thing that improved my guitar playing the most was getting every song i could think of chord charts, and then learning them..u begin to become more familiar with chord patterns and muscle train your fingers to just automatically hit the right position on the correct fret...dont give up and enjoy~~

i know exactly how you feel, ive been playin the piano for sometime, and just started on the guitar, since you say you learn how to play the piano by ear, do the same with the guitar, thats what i do, i sit with the cd player n listen to songs wit simple guitar chords(basically rock) n try to play, it works for me, hope this can help in some way! Good luck :)

well maybe its what youre playing. try out different genres. david bowie and the beatles have great easy songs to play. but you shouldnt expect yourself to get it really fast. some people do and some dont. it took me at least four months before i started to play easily and get all the chords.

also i got a lot better when i played songs i loved a lot and could sing to.
