REM sleep stands for "Rapid-Eye Movement" sleep. This is the deepest level of sleep that only lasts about 10-45 minutes. During this time, you are most likely to have dreams. Also, people who achieve the REM level of sleep for at least 30 minutes will last longer, feel better, and have more energy through the day than someone who got 8 hours of mid-level slumber.

Stands for Rapid Eye Movement. Im not completely sure but it has to do with a different brainwave, something like alpha or beta and when most dreaming starts. Also, I think there is two key points during sleep that rem is happening, the first a few hours before you awake and the second a few hours after you fall asleep.

REM stands for "rapid eye movement." It is the fourth level of sleep. It is the level of sleep that allows you to dream. You are almost in a coma-like state. Your entire body gets refreshed from the inside.
While you are in REM sleep, your eyeballs twitch and roll. It's how a person observing a sleeper knows that the sleeper is in the fourth level of sleep.

Rapid Eye Movement. It's describes part of the sleep cycle in which the eyes even though they're closed move back and forth as though looking at lots of different things, maybe objects in a dream.
