PTI - The easiest division? The Northeast doesn't have 3 teams at or below .500 for the season like the Central (read Detroit and Nashville) Division. Also, looking at the Western COnference, out of the 5 worst teams in the NHL, 4 are in the West, the only exception being Philidelphia. That means 32 games against some of the worst teams in all of the NHL. And they both also play the Flyers, making a 33rd game against weak competition (yet Detroit lost 6-1 to Philidelphia, and Nashville won a 3-2 game). Besides, the Sabres have a 1 point lead in the standings and have 1 more game remaining than both teams. New Jersey is 4 points back and the Sabres have 1 more remaining game than the Devils, but the teams play twice in Buffalo in the upcoming weeks.

Buffalo, however, has 1 team in it's division solidly in the playoffs, and 2 teams within 2 points of the 8th spot. The only team not close is Boston, and they are only 8 points out of 8th. All 5 teams are above .500.

But the Devils or Sabres are going to win it, and my pick is the Sabres. They are going to be getting healthy over the next couple weeks, so that the only person slated to be out of the lineup through the playoffs at this point is Gaustad. This will only help the team, not hurt them.

I'd say Buffalo... but Nashville and Detroit have legitimate chances as well. As many others have said.. it may be more curse than blessing to win that trophy... especially if a team pushes hard to achieve it. It really does mean nothing. All that matters is the CUP. I'm sure hardly anyone even remembers who won the President's Trophy the last 2 years. All we remember is who won the cup... Carolina and Tampa Bay in the last 2 years.

The smartest teams will rest some of their top players in the final weeks and give those players who have nagging injuries extra time to heal to get them as ready for the playoffs as possible. Teams still pushing for a certain playoff spot have the disadvantage that they have to play everyone and play them hard.. just to make it in.

I think Buffalo will end up winning the President's Trophy cause they r in an easier conference, and maybe easiest division in NHL, and like the guy 2 above me said, the only time the Red Wings have won the Cup same year as winning President Trophy was 02, every other year that they won the President Trophy they didn't win the cup outta like 6 times finishin season #1 in NHL in past 12 years, and when they won the Cups in 97 and 98 they finished somewhere in top 3 in conference each time but not the president trophy winner, just like the year they broke the record of most wins in a season with 62 in 96 they lost to Avs in Conference Finals

I am a buffalo fan and think the President's Cup is a jinx. I look at the Redwings and they have won it a few times and seem to be knocked out of the playoffs early! So, I hope it is another team other than the Sabres or Red Wings. In fact, I would like to see a Sabre - Redwing Stanley Cup.

I'm A Red Wing fan and I hope it isn't Detroit. I think it will be buffalo the reason I don't want it to be Detroit is that too much effort is expended trying to achieve that trophy that you usually loose sight of the real reason for playing STANLEY.

That's a tough one but i'm gonna say that the Buffalo Sabres will win it with Nashville in a close second.

Nashville. Heck they have more of a race with Red Wings and I think that is what pushes one of the teams to the top.

I think the Preds made some good moves at the deadline to get themselves the trophy. They won't win the one that counts though. I think the Sabres are going to get the Stanley Cup.
