It is a good idea to have some diversity in your interests. Horseback riding is a really good idea, as it is physical, and requires work, which shows you can stick to something.Maybe karate would interest you if you are interested in self defense.
Volunteer work is also a really good way to make your application stand out for college, so if there is something you like to do, you can teach it to someone else, like teaching others how to use a computer. Just remember you have time to find your passion, so try out a few different things and enjoy the ride!

The ability to communicate effectively is very important. Concentrate on elocution and pronunciation in spoken language, vocabulary, grammar, and spelling in the written language. You will thank yourself in the future as a large part of being able to accomplish anything is in being able to clearly and intelligently state your abilities and desires to others. This is true to get into college, to apply for a job, in relationships, and in nearly any other area of life. It will improve the way others relate to you, and help you to feel confident in undertaking any challenge. Good luck to you, desire is half of the battle won!
The best way to educate yourself is to READ, READ, READ...
It doesn't have to be schoolwork either, Stephen King will suffice.
some good books that I would recommend:
'A Prayer For Owen Meany', Johnathon Irving
The 'Sandman' Comic Series, Neil Gaiman
'American Gods', Neil Gaimain
'A Wrinkle in Time', or any of the subsequent novels for young adults by Madeline L'engle
(some of these may be too advanced for you, but keep the list anyway, for later. I read them at your age, but my parents were exceedingly permissive in this area, so be sure it's okay)

Take classes that interest you and then find a college that interests you and fits your needs/wants. Grammar would be good to learn too.
