First off, it shouldn't really be hurting by now. Most docs recommend you wait three months to resume sex, and that should put you in the clear. As far as the cause of the pain, that kind of depends on where the pain is and what kind of pain is it. If it is near the vaginal entrance, it may be the result of improper healing of a tear or any cut (episiotomy) the doc made at the birth. As the muscles warm up and stretch, the pain goes away. Pain deeper inside could be the same or something like a connective tissue adhesion between your vaginal walls and the surrounding structures (like the uterus).

See your Ob/Gyn... try to recall exactly what activities produced what kind of discomfort and write it down to take to her. Also write down any unusual sensations that occur during stimulation or orgasm as it might be a clue to what is happening physically. I would highly recommend against penetration until you see her, or at the very least, start with something small, like a finger (lots of extra lube) to warm up the muscles. Best of luck! Ed, RN

With my first child it hurt for a long time after, try some lubricant to help. A gynecologist told me Astroglide is the closest to natural lubrication (also does not irritate my skin like some others did) Go to your Dr. though because my Dr. told me sometimes a piece of stitches can not fully disolve. That was not my case mine only quit after having my second child, I have no idea why it sounds kind of gross the only thing I can think of is that maybe I did not heal properly and when they recut me for my 2nd child is healed together right.

It varies from person to person...With my first I had a lot of pain for almost a year. And with my second, I have had none at all. Try using extra lube and see if that helps. If it really bothers you make an appt with your DR
