u must hate some of the "radio" rap these days. but there are still some great songs. hip hop/rap/r&b is music to really help the people. forget the songs about the bling bling and hoes. Think of songs like runaway love by ludacris and imagine by dr. dre and snoop dogg. Hip hop is the root of hardships and the struggle, but overcoming to becoming successful, and essentially, achieving the American Dream. As a music producer myself I find myself liking all types of music, as long as it's good music. Hip hop today seems to be the most commercially successful, so I am pursuing this particular genre right now. And hip hop has roots in rock, metal, jazz, classical, funk, disco, and roots in indian/middle eastern/african/asian, etc. music. It's such a broad genre. And the disrepect shown to women is wrong but for someone in suburbia it looks wrong. I've lived in Queens for over 10 years, seen some of the worst things. Women are almost powerless and have no power in the hood. It's survival of the fittest. Suburbia is bullshit and not "reality". Think about it. Hip hop is raw and brutal sometimes, but it's reality. So there.

I like what people called "back-pack rap". It's positive rap music made by artist like Common, Dilated Peoples, Kanye West, K-Os, Talib Kweli and others like them.

But I don't really care for "gangster rap", because it's just all about cars, clothes, rims, and jewelery. Unlike back-pack rap, gangster rap doesn't have a message to send.

Not defending anything, but that's hypocritical. You can't generalize about rap by saying that it's all about disrespecting women and then dislike people who generalize about metal.

I can't stand to listen to rap and black metal. they are both hatefull and need to be eliminated in my oppinion. There is too many things in this world to be sad about, so I want music to make the sadness go away. Not make it bigger and worse by dwelling and focussing on hate and anger..
