My best friend has been in a very bad mood lately and has been coming to school with bruises and cuts even though she doesn't play outside. I think it is because her mommy and daddy do not treat her well and hurt her. She came to school with a bruised face and arm. When I asked her what happened, she didn't say anything. I do not know how I can help her because I am only seven years old. What is the best thing that I should do? We are in the same class in the fifth grade and I am the youngest student in the class so I don't know who will believe me when I tell. Who should I tell first: the teacher, the principal, the guidance councilor, or someone else? I do not want her parents to know that I told or else they might hurt her worse. Please help my best friend. Thank you.

If you are to scared to tell one of the teachers, talk to your parents tell them your problem. Let your parents know that you are worried about her and that you don't want her to get in trouble with her parents. Or if you don't want to tell them, talk to your teacher, if she is in your class then ask if the teacher as noticed the bruises. Tell her/him your concerns about the abuse and hope for the best. Praying always helps. Just be a good friend, and support her, once you tell some one about the abuse, it will get tough, it will be nice for her to know that she has a friend that cares about her. Oh ya, I'm sure they will believe, abuse is nothing to take lightly.

You are obviously very mature for such a young age. Your friend is very lucky to have you. Being abused is scary and she is definitely scared and in need of help. The best thing for you to do is go speak immediately to your guidance counsellor. She will keep everything you say to her private and she will then investigate it herself and you will no longer have to carry this burden within yourself.

Tell the guidance counselor at school, and tell them the you are worried about her, and do not use your name. What a good friend you are.
