Could it be do you think that most follow the politics of their parents much like they follow their religion?.....without an awful lot of thought & reasoning......
The alternative would of course be that the majority use their god given reasoning powers.....jeez! where would we all be then I wonder!

Politics is a dirty game and not, as some politicians claim, a science.
People with high ideals get elected to parliament but their dreams and hopes are dashed by a system which uses the whip hand to herd them through the lobbies to vote for government Bills which they know will damage not only their constituents but also their chances of re-election.
Always remember that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
What really happens in parliament is the hard cases get to the top of the heap quickly and take command and control. The party whips then force back benchers to vote for what they do not actually believe in.
And, so it goes.

The Romans had the perfect system that lasted 500 yrs what they did is stop any one person having to much power or staying in office for long everything was for the people. Then it all went wrong it is very close to how Bush has to much power and when the indervidual has to much control people no longer matter. The Nazi party are the extreme and we seem to be moving towards neo Nazi style politics. Democracy is meant to be the people telling the goverment what to do for them not the goverment controlling the people there will be a time when freedom is lost unless people start acting I am very concerned about the future. Good question

I believe in the right to not vote. I know that some think that not voting or voting for someone you're pretty sure is not going to win is "throwing away a vote", but I don't think that's the case at all. The way it looks at the moment, I just might not vote for prez in 2008. I vote for the person, not for a party and I don't like any of them as it stands.

Yes.
and
Because when we look in the mirror we realise we are no better than they are, and we didn't have the guts to even stand up and speak out.
Alternative to a very flawed 'democracy'?
An even worse dictatorship.
At least we can still swap one set of liars for another for a while and hope that individuals within the civil service will keep an eye out and 'leak' a few things from time to time. The best reason I have ever thought of for the abolition of the death penalty for 'treason'.

Well, since the governmental structure is not going to change any time soon, you have two options: vote, and be unsure of whether you are being heard, or not vote, and know for certain that you are not being heard. As for me, I will be voting, because it's the only chance I have at a voice in the politcal sysetem.

dont be facetious. some of us need wheelchairs...
and im a socialist, politicians of today are obsequious slugs, ssliming their way thru their life in a effort to line their collective pockets and pad their shabby existence with with power and position.
used to be a time when politicians actually listened to the electorate... putting a puppet in jeans and a t shirt does not make him a man of the people...

The two major parties are one Aristocracy, thier children go to the same schools, they intermarry, and they get a real kick out of the stupid commoners who think there is a real difference.
They are out to govern the world and anyone who helps them do so is a fool.
