Totally depends on the baby... My daughter started saying "da-da" at 6 months-- she now says, "Bye" "Hey" "Cat" "Kitty-Cat" and "Da-da" and she's just under 9 months... Most ppl understand "Cat" and "Da-da", but I'm w/ her 24-7 so I can pick up on the other ones and she says them more often when other ppl aren't around... my cousin's baby starting saying "Da-da" at 6 months also... my cousin says she can say a lot (she's now 11 months) but I couldn't make out any of it...

about 1 1/2 years old.
It also depends because a baby could say its first word at 9months or even not until two years old.

around 8-9 months they usually say dada, baba or momma. if your child isnt saying a word by 12 months then it is considered delayed.
