I'm a moderate Democrat, but I agree with you wholeheartedly. That's why we can't back out of Iraq. We will lose the respect of our allies. And it could set us up to attacks since we would be perceived as weak and vulnerable. There's nothing more exciting for an enemy to witness than a weak and vulnerable foe. We should have only entered Afghanistan, but it's too late to play Monday morning quarterback when it comes to Iraq.

Maybe it is time for the US to give up the super power role. It is time for the US to no longer be the Police man of the World. If there is a problem involving the United Nations that requires military action it should be done by other countries not just the US. The Us and Great Britian send more troops and end up paying for majority. If Saudia Arabia needs the policing let them pay for it. Or let Kuwait pay for theWar. What does the US have to gain by being policeman of the world? I don't love Iraq. I don't think the Iraqi people love democracy. They don't want a government with freedom of Religion. They did not want it in Afghanastan either.

If invadding other countries without just cause is required to be a superpower, thenthe US doesn't need to be a superower.
And as for respect--the rest of the world LOST respect for America when we invaded Iraq. Fear is not the same as respect--a fact the neocons--andBush--don't understand. But decent Americans--the overwhelming majority who want to pull out of Iraq--aren't afraid of you neocons--or Bush. And your attempts at moral intimidation don't work any longer--you have no credibility left.

Don't you know that this has already happened??? On the world stage, the US is now a bit player - not feared , not respected and certainly not followed. It will take years after Bush leaves office for the damage to be repaired. Sad commentary on a country that only a few short years ago, was the strongest, richest country in the world - envied by all. I know Americans who, when they travel to other countries, have the Canadian flag in plain sight somewhere because they want to hide the fact they are Americans. Pathetic!!!!

That may be the best reason to pull out that I have heard yet.
And I've heard several excellent reasons.
And I'm not a liberal.

It is not their love for Iraq; they hate Iraq, too. It their hatred for the US that makes them desire our failure.
