I'm a lesbian that dresses in a masculine manner,i like shirts & will often wear a tie etc..i wear that stuff because i like it,i feel comfortable in it-and no i don't want to be a man,and my partner of 9 years doesn't like me wearing that-she isn't attracted to that particular part of my wardrobe but is fine with me being comfortable in my outfit,I don't see why clothes have to be seperated into male and female items, surely everyone can wear what they like? I'm clean, smart and don't comment anyone elses attire, more people should be like that! 'Guys' clothes happen to be really comfortable and I wore 'womens' clothes I'd look ridiculous to be honest,I don't see what the problem is?!
As for getting a 'real man' believe me I'm all woman under the clothes and in the bedroom dept. lesbians are attracted to women duh-it doesn't matter how they dress as they are still 100% female under the clothes.

What should a 'real' man wear? What should a 'real' girl wear? How should 'girls' wear their hair, I mean comon people can wear what they want, does it matter if they are a boy or a girl.
And yeah they are Butch lesbians.....and no they are not trying to look like 'men' I know plently of men that are femme and they are not trying to look like 'Woman'
Of course, some femme woman get with some butch woman, but their certianly isnt any rules on that fact, I am a femme with a femme just as I know plenty of butchs with other butch.
And more often than not........people don't identify as either femme or butch. Either way, people are doing what they need to, to feel comfortable in a world that constintly trys to supress people.
A real man? Are you that stupid..............they are lesbians! No man in a lesbian realationship you retard.

A couple of replies have stated that lesbians hate men. This is not true, lesbians do not relate to men as well as they relate to women. Lesbians tend to be indifferent to the male of the species, they simply do not interest them. As for dressing like men, I have no idea why some do, but I personally do not find women who look like men attractive. That's because they remind me of men to which I am indifferent. It's not wrong to dress like men, but undoubtedly some women find that look attractive. So what? Your question is also highly insulting to all lesbians, you need to mature and learn some humility.

God, Buddha, Krishna, Muhammad, the Great Spaghetti Monster . . . whoever it is up there, why, why are you punishing me? What have I done to be fated to answer this question a gazillion times, even though it's been asked so many times before, and when the questioner asks it, surely Yahoo! Answers offers them examples of when the question has been asked before? And why, O Mighty One, do they ask it so rudely? Not "Why do some feminine lesbians like being with masculine women?", but words like "Why don't they just get a real man?". Oh, well. I supposed I'll answer it yet again. Read my lips:
Lesbians. Don't. Like. Men.
A man is not just the sum of his clothes. Men and women smell different, they are built different, they have different bodies, different genitals, different body hair, different skin texture, different ways of relating, communicating, expressing themselves, etc., etc.. A man is a very different thing from a butch woman, no matter how masculine, and lesbians don't like men, they like women. A butch woman is definitely still a woman, wouldn't you agree? Hence the women who love butches are lesbians, and no "real man", even the finest specimen of maleness alive, would make her happy.
You should definitely take a look at this forum, where femme lesbians discuss the difficulties in explaining to others why they like butches:
http://butch-femme.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=46489&highlight=explaining+butch
Anyhow, I hope that enlightens you a little.

sure, there's a very few that may dress a bit masculine....but the thing is, they are still women! I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked this ridiculous and insulting question. "why don't they just get a real man".....because we're attracted to women, not men! I'm guessing you don't even know anyone gay or lesbian? it's pretty obvious.

OK I've answered a question like this one yesterday.
I'm not trying to be rude I'm just stating something that can almost be true.
I knew this girl in High School named Megan she liked girls she told us she was a dyke. She cut her hair like dudes in our school wore baggy clothes from the man section. Now the lesbians at our school would date her. Her relationships normally lasted 3 to 6 months, and she come to me telling me all this for me to try and help the only thing I could come up with why these girlie lesbians broke up with her is because they really wasn't sure of what they wanted. So we did some investigating come to find out they liked men that's why they dated Megan because she looked like a dude.
And the reason some chicks dress like men I don't know never figured it out, and I just learned their just normal people trying to figure out their place in the world. Some dress like men and years later get a sex change, Others just like to dress like a man. Now my gf she wears guy pants only because they fit her better, but she doesn't look nothing like a man. Why rack your brain all day trying to figure it out. You'll never understand it anyways. I'm friends with everyone, and the best way for me to figure it out is ask them why they dress the way they do, because everyone has a different reason for the things they do.
Im not saying all lesbians who like to date women who dress like a man I was just saying that in my real life experience that, that time Megan happened to date a chick who was confused and really just wanted a man. But if people really don't understand what I said LESBIANS LOVE'S WOMEN NO MATTER HOW THEY DRESS NOR ACT OR LOOK. I'm just tired of seeing over and over and over again the same question being asked.

Why does anyone dress the way they do? For comfort, style, acceptance by peers or society, to fit in, to stand out , it's what they can afford...take your pick. As for your unenlightened editorial comment about lesbian couples...I think your name explains all.

Some lesbians hate being feminine, which actually does a disservice to the female gender. I guess that's why it should be called feMANism.
On the flip side, lesbians hate men, yet recognize their need for a man, so a masculine "woman" is a compromise--trying to have it both ways.
