I am really sick,and I left early from work yesterday with my boss knowing I had a fever. Well, today I called in and now he said he wants a doctors note. I don't really have money to go to the doctor, but otherwise I might get fired. What can I do?

Without an employee handbook or if there is no written policy regarding the issue you may dispute it. Inform your employer of your monetary situation, who better knows what financial shape you are in than him? Employers know that doctors visits are expensive. You might state that your doctor could not see you on such short notice.
State that you didn't plan on being sick, but if he would like you to possibly bring the germ into the office, you could come in and vomit in the office to accommodate him.

Be direct. Let your boss know you can't afford a doctor and you thought it would be safer not to infect the entire office which would effect his business more if you got others in the office sick........... If you dropped dead from being sick you will be replaced anyway. And they will not close the office just to show up at your funeral

I know being sick at work sucks but we all have to do it at one point or another. If your boss is really that anal than you should just show up to work sick and be sent home. That would give him his validation and you would look more responsible. Or you can always look for another job that is more flexible with things like that.

He sounds like a jerk. I suggest looking for a new job and in the meantime just try your hardest to stomach his BS. Or if you like your boss you could go talk to HR, they usually won't tell on you.
