In the United States, most of the fossils found are in places like Montana or out west. Arid environments are good preservers of fossils. Others include bogs, and glacial environments or any extreme environment that can lack oxygen. Oxygen increases the decay process.

I don't know where you live, but places with sedimentary rocks are good, because metamorphic and igneous rocks don't usually yield fossils. I live in Kansas, which was a sea during the cretaceus. I can just go out into my backyard and find crynoids all the time.

Depends where you are, but fossils can be found in most sedimentary rocks. Depening upon their depositional environment. The best fossils are found where sediment was deposited under low energy conditions.
