i met him 5 years back and i immidiately had a major crush on him. he had a gf then, so i didnt say anything. we became great friends. and he now considers me his best friend. he went to another country to study but we kept in touch over the net and phone.
he fell out with his gf some 6 months back and he called me for solace. he would tell his gf probs all the time.
but he also told me... you have been a great friend and thats all you will ever be,and nothing more.
i lied and said i never had feelings for him and we ll always be friends.
he says im the only one in the world who cares about him.
i dont know where we stand.. its all so weird. he is so far away and its like i want to be there to be able to make him happy again... but i know that he would never be mine. what do i do now. please help

Just try to enjoy what you have with him! Who knows it could turn into something else(like a relationship).If you feel like something is haunting you because you lied take him aside and tell him that you lied but that you know he doesn't like you and you are gonna back off.

OKay, well you guys are really far aprt right now, so telling him would be a bit pointless you know? Wait until you are together, but ONLY if you are willing to risk losing him forever, or hearing he doesn't want you. If you don't wanna take that risk, don't ask a question you don't wanna hear the answer too.

what to do? Thank him for be honest to you to be clear on his friendship with you...That is good to know always... So do nothing if you have feelings for him and you know that you want more then that...Then keep him far away from him mosthly now...You never know if he will go back with his ex- and that he maybe will be dating someone sooner so don't wast feelings were never will be nothing more from him that just friends...

maybe since you guys are such close friends he is scared to tell you his feelings. He knows that maybe if you guys break up there would never be anyone else to care for him. Just tell him your feelings and see what he says. I know it will be hard but try
