Yuk, how messy. I'd copy my important files to a CD or DVD. Then wipe out the hard drive's data with killdisk. Then reinstall a nice fresh copy of XP..

Since you have XP, go to Administrative Tools, then to Computer Management. Use that to delete the partition that 98 is on. You might want to use Computer Management to be sure the XP partition is the System Partition.

you will need a disk partitioning program like (free) partion logic or a (paid) partion magic. if you go to reinstall windows you might have the option to delete the old operating system but if it can not see it ( like some version of linux) you will not have that option.partion logic works with most kinds of file systems so it maybe your best bet. O.K. HAVE A NICE DAY

Sounds like you have a dual boot setup?
Either you have 2 separate drives, or partitions. Based on your question, I assume you're not the one that set this up? You simply reformat whatever drive has 98 on it. This will erase everything on the partition however, so make sure you back anything up you don't want erased.

Go to the folder that you wish to get rid of(which i assume will be the windows 98 folder) and simply delete it. After its gone go to your start menu on xp. Select run and type msconfig. select the boot.ini tab and click check all boot paths. it should say that your win98 isnt valid do you want to delete it. select yes and then no more 98.
