Most people would prefer a dog, but I prefer chimps. They are the closest thing to humans believe it or not. They are the only animals
in the world that shares some of the same emotions as humans with the expressions on they're faces when they are angry, sad, happy, and content. They are also the only the animals in the world, that can reflect themselves in the mirror like humans can. When I was a little boy I always wanted a chimpanzee and my father told me no!!!!!!!!!!!!He said that he does not like monkeys, and that he was not going to let me have one.Now that I am grown I can but one.

Some states actually prohibit people who are not licensed to care for exotic animals from owning them. Not to mention, a chimp isn't a pet, and they aren't bred to be. Most are poached from the wild and sold as pets and many owners have a rude awakening. Monkeys can be very dangerous to people, both behavior wise and health wise. They carry many diseases that humans are in danger of contracting. Also, since monkeys are not pets, they succumb to depression and other behavioral problems while being in captivity. You need to remember that although chimps act like people, they are not people. They are not babies and they certainly aren't pets. Yeah, babies are adorable, but a grown chimp can weigh more than 120 pounds and honestly could kill you if it wanted to. Anyone who thinks of getting a Chimp as a pet is a selfish human being, who thinks only of having a really cool/cute pet and does not think of the actual needs of such a complex creature.

They're also incredibly powerful (much more so than a person) and can be violent and aggressive once they reach puberty. Many chimps are gotten as pets and end up spending the rest of their lives in a small cage because they became too aggressive for their owner to handle. Like many wild animals, they look 'cute' until you have to live with them 24 hrs a day and then they quickly become 'work' and then, in some cases 'danger'.
It's really not fair to a social, highly intelligent animal to keep it in your house just because you want it. This is a very shallow, selfish action. Hopefully you'll come to see that chimps belong in one place - the wild.

They are interesting animals, for sure, but they are not suitable as pets. Why don't you volunteer at a zoo and learn more about these complex animals. Owning a chimp as a pet is something very similar to owning a person and calling him/her a pet. Bad idea all the way around.

Owning a chimp is a bad idea, it cost about 30,000 dollars a year to care for one, and an adult chimp is extremely dangerous.
I have re habituated about 20 chimps that have come out of these situations, one of them had even killed a young girl. save everyone a lot of trouble and get a dog instead.

Its crultey to animals if you own a pet chimp! they may be the closest things to humans but would you like to be locked in cage??? if it is legal then it should be illegal and anyone caught with one should be locked up for life! If you realy want a pet chimp the best thing would to be work in zoo or go to a jungle or own your own chimp recuce center! good luck but please don't get one as a pet xx

all animals and humans have the same emotions lol just monkey's are smarter and have the ability to smile of frown. but they are not like people very dangerous to your neighboors it is preferable if u hava alot of acres and trees and fence so he/she can't excape!! they are loud to and need lots of attention and if u can't give him/her that then u would need a monkey compain. or it will die or be depressed !!

Baby chimps are cute, but adult chimps can be very dangerous. You have to have special facilities and special training to keep one.

they take a lot of work and you have to be ready to deal with them. i had one once and had to give him to the local zoo because he became very temperamental and jealousof my time with the kids. a chimp can crush your hand in a single hand shake.
