Just a tip. I know this from experience. If you use food coloring in the food, remember that later, when you see it again, you know, it's going to be the same color.
Green and blue are particularly effective.

Sure..... I make Sugar Cookies.
After making the dough, I divide it into several separate batches, then add one color food dye(yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, brown, or green) to each batch.
When the colored dough is rolled out, I cut the dough with cookie cutters(Christmas trees, Santa's, bunnies, pumpkins, flowers, cars, cats, dogs, etc.) or just in squares or circles.
Then I decorate each shape with sprinkles to make it look funny, more realistic, fancy, or whatever I'm in the mood for.
It's always been a lot of fun for me and my sons both loved helping decorate(and eat) the cookies. It was always something I could bring to school for their holiday parties.

My Dad once used green food coloring to make green eggs and ham, thinking we'd be tickled pink. Unfortunately, it backfired because it looked tainted. My Dad wasted quite a bit of money that Sunday morning!

Good grief no! What will they think when they wake up to the fact that what they've been eating all those years was really not that color at all? Oh, the humanity! I mean this in jest, but it is worth a serious thought.

I've seen people do it before. They dyed the grits blue and called them gritty boys instead of grits.
I think it would work, but my kid already eats everything anyways
