G5 systems are NOT the latest systems. All new Macintosh computers now have Intel processors. If you were looking at a white, all-in-one unit, it was probably an iMac. Macs are very impressive. They are every bit as good as they seem. Everyone who owns a Mac absolutely falls in love with them. I bought my first Mac two years ago and I'll never buy another PC. How do they compare to Microsoft? They're light-years beyond Microsoft. Vista, even in it's six years of development, can't compare to Mac OS X Tiger, which shipped over a year ago. The next version of Mac OS X will be released this spring and it's set to completely destroy Microsoft. The Mac's back and it's kicking all kinds of ***. Mac sales have doubled since this time last year. This means more and more people are switching to Mac every single day, and for good reason. Check out Apple's website for more information on the Macintosh, but take it from me, you'll love a Mac.
computertech82 is just trying to scare you away from the Mac. He obviously doesn't know what it's like to use a Mac or own a Mac. There's no such thing as a "lack of software". There's tons of great software available for the Mac. You just won't find it at Wal-Mart. I'll give him that point, but really, would you trust Wal-Mart to carry the parts to your Mercedes Benz? I didn't think so. Also, the software available to the Mac platform is generally better than it's Windows counterpart. Sure, you can get hundreds of different photo editing applications for Windows, but how many of them are any good? Three? Simply put, crap doesn't survive on the Mac market. There's a lot of software out there for the Mac, it's just distributed a little differently. There's also a lot of great free software, mostly open source, thanks to Mac's close relationship to other open source platforms. Aside from all of this, the Mac ships with most of the software you'll ever need, and unlike the crap PCs ship with, this is software that you'll actually want to use. Also, this whole "market share" myth is completely nonsense. The Macintosh user base is 22 million strong and growing. 22 million users is hardly insignificant.

In a word yes the Macbook which you are referring to is an excellent piece of kit and the latest on the market. I have one which I do all my design on when on the move. They are faster than your average laptop and don't suffer from the virus worry as they have no registry to write to. Also you will find that windows vista is based around the operating system (OS X or Tiger) except on a mac things run quicker. Not only that you can run windows and mac on the same laptop using either parallels or boot camp....something you can't do on a microsoft based machine. Hope this helps. P.s the one to go for is the 2.0Ghz Dual core intel cpu with 1Gig ram worth the extra.

Apparently the latest one is the iToilet (http://www.electric-chicken.co.uk/itoilet.html). No seriously, read it. It's hilarious. Anyway you asked how do they compare to Microsoft. Well, as you said, they LOOK mint. Unfortunately, looks aren't everything. Although Apple make impressive boasts about their systems, none of them are true. Do some Google searching on the subject. If you want a computer to impress your friends when they walk in the door, or provide basic functionality for a toddler to play games, get a Mac. If you want a computer to impress your friends with the speed, functionality and versatility, and to play high powered games, get a PC. Really.

For your second question, i suggest- http://www.apple.com/uk/thestore/
For your first- Some people find PCs better, some find Macs, its preference really but they are totally different things and for years there has been argument about which is the better, to go into detail it would take some time but to sum it up, they do the jobs theyre meant to very well. 99.9% of people even posting here will be using PCs so asking what is best is rather bias, use google if anything.
Hope it helps

The latest mac is really a PC with a different look. It's overpriced even though it's using the same parts as pc's with windows. Only 2% of the world uses mac, 90%+ using pc and windows. If you like headaches, no software to get, hard to get parts, get the mac. If you want it to be able to run programs from wal-mart, and other stores, the pc is the only way to go. Don't be fooled in thinking the mac is not a pc or it's faster, it's using the same cpu, almost the same motherboard, same video card, same parts inside as a pc. You're just forced to use os x with no support from the majority.

The latest ones are using Intel chips and will be upgraded pretty soon. Look at Apple Store site to see the different Macs.

Depends on what it looks like

Keep in mind that Microsoft is usually just the software on a computer made by Dell, HP, ect....
I love my iMac

depends what model you want. Go to www.apple.com and take a look and see what you want. They are great and if you buy it at the store their Apple Genius center will teach you everything about it and show you how to use it.
