Everytime I am away from keyboard my PC (Win XP) starts to slow down. But when I'm using it it's just fine. Everytime it slows down when I'm away from keyboard I have to move the mouse and open a program to slowly make the computer faster. Someone please tell me the cause of the PC slow downs. I have done virus scans, spybot scans and even defraged my PC.

I do not have centrino. And this never happened before. And it takes about 30 minutes for the computer to become fast again.

this is a good sign!
you obviously have a laptop with Intel Centrino. this special technology, called speedstep, was intended to save battery power if the laptop has nothing to do (it's done by reducing the clock frequency of the CPU down to about 60%).
after waking up the laptop by mouse or keyboard, it will go back to it's full performance.

This happens to most pc system. It is a method of allowing the pc to prioritize what needs to be maintained. When you leave for a long time the pc allows for the system to take control over running applications.
When you return it takes a while for the CPU percent usage to correct it's self.
Trust me it's nothing bad.

Before we can further help, we need to know what else is going on with the system. There is obviously a background process that is 'sucking' up most of the cpu clock and not releasing it.

chek your opstions and see if you have a good prsoser and make sher it's doing that ot save eltrisaty.
