The only way pitt bulls will be mean (if its a puppy that you are getting) is if you make him mean... if you show them lots of love and LOTS of attention then your dog will be the best that it can be... just remember Pitts take alot of attention, these are the types of dogs that need to be sociallized with people including yourself! You cant just keep him in the back yard and only give it attention when you feed it, he'll become mean and you definitely dont want that... Pitts have a nasty bite where they can lock their jaws on whatever they get ahold of... So are you ready to take on this kind of responsibility? Good luck on what ever you choose!! =)

i love and own o pit bull great dogs very smart but trust me check in to pit bull rescue centers first before you pay that kind of money! there are hundreds of pit bulls (puppies and adults) out there who need desperately a good loving home to call their own!
