The belt is either broken or slipping badly. Slide the dryer out and take the back off the dryer. The back is usually fastened with several phillips pan head screws and it will be obvious which ones need to be removed. With the back off, you will be able to see the pullys and belt. If the belt in intact, you may just need to put it back on the pullys and adjust the tension. Again, the way to adjust the tension should be obvious. Don't make it too tight or you will wear out the pully bearings. Don't make it too loose or it will slip. Use common sense, and you will know how tight to make it. While you have the belt off, write down the part number that is stenciled on the belt so you can get a replacement. You should be able to get a replacement at any appliance repair business. Best advice is to take the belt with you (whether it is broken or not) so you are sure to get the right one. Once the belt is back on and tensioned correctly, you can put the back back on and fire it up. It should work like new.
Good luck with your dryer problem.
