Well actually AOL Active Virus Shield is the best it has a higher detection rate than AVG or Avast even paid anti viruses. Its not made by AOL so its not loads of rubbish its made by Kaspersky which has the number 1 detection rate. AOL Active Virus Sheild has 99.7% Detection Rate where as AVG Free only has about 83%.
Also Active Virus Sheild is free and its updated constantly at least 5 updates a day so you will always be covered.

The only reason its got AOL in its name is that AOL paid kapersky to make it for them.

Go to google and search for it.

I think AVG is one of the best if not the best free anti-virus protection program out there, its real easy to use, and it does what other $50 programs do just about the same so why spend the $50 when you can get AVG for free.

I would have to say avg for free antivirus, make sure that you have good memory though... anything under 512mb of ram and it will bog you down

There actually is a single free program that provides complete protection, Cyberhawk, anyone who recommends anything else doesn't know. I've had it for about a year, it is currently my only protection software, (uninstalled antivirus and and spyware programs about a month ago, since installing cyberhawk they have found nothing, cyberhawk takes care of all of it)

I have used free downloads..and even paid for store shelf brands. I trusted Norton for years, and then when I recently scanned my pc with my now trusted security protection Invisus Direct, and they found over 70 hackers on my pc..and even more(and AVG is one of the protections I was using as backup)....I learned you get what you pay for with these other companies. And with using Invisus Direct...I make money as well with it!

I was recommended AVAST by my mate and it hasnt steered me wrong these last couple of years.. It updates itself like ever day or two and alarms go off if it finds a virus which gives you the option to delete straight away.
