They are expensive and only practical for around town. You can't go offroad in them, they are underpowered, and they are horrible in snow.

Besides, since most people drive to work solo, you can spend 1/4 the price and get a motorcycle that gets the same mileage or better than a hybrid.

$$$$$$$$$! The cost of purchase right now is prohibitive to a huge number of buyers. I personnaly would love a hybrid! The initial purchase cost is just more than I can afford.

Another reason is that hybrid technology does not support many of the driving habits that people want. I.E. off road, speed, passenger capacity and other things.

too expensive to begin with and the main battery has to be replaced in 8 yrs, and the cost is $2,500 for it so what are you really saving?, so you get 50 miles per gallon but by the time you figure your paying 3 to 4 thousand more for the car than a normal car and the price of replacing that battery in 7 or 8 yrs. you have to be crazy to buy one let alone when you go to trade it in after 5 or 6 yrs. the dealer knows all about the battery replacement and he is going to give you a lot less on trade in.

Its not so much that they are too expensive or that they have false gas milege its the fact that they have no horsepower. i was reading an article the other day and this car that i dont remember the name of got like 66 miles to the gallon but it only had 70 Hp or something like that. so in reality they have no power.

Every 8 to 10 years, these cars will 'dump' extremely toxic batteries into the environment! And... they do not save that much gas (see the NEW government mileage numbers!).

There's not enough to go around for every single eligible driver....

Not everyone has the money and/or the credit to buy one...

Some people need trucks or less-economy size vehicles for work purposes (farmers and movers, for example)....

Beacause it won't pull a 29ft 6500lb travel trailer. And there's nothing like putting my foot into the gas pedal and cranking up my HEMI.
