So I have a guinnea pig. She is white and has long hair.
She has been lathargic all day, stiff to the touch, buries herself in a corner.
Normally she is skitish but she is acually letting people touch her.
She is approximatly 4-5 years old ( got her from someone who got her).
Is she sick or dieing? What should I do if she is sick?

i show gineau pigs and i have been raising them for 7yrs now . Normally their life span is 3-4 yrs and she seems to be one of them who happens to live longer.I hate to tell you this but i think she is dying , the only thing i can tell you to do is talk to a vet if you are really that concerned about her.
One question , have you had a cold in the last two weeks and if you have did you handle her at all? Gineau pigs can catch human illnesses like colds and flues so if you were sick and held her she could have caught something from you.If her eyes are goopy and crusty and if she is sneezing then she probably caught a human illness. well i hope i helped you out.

To tell you the truth I think she's dyeing I know that sound bad. But about a week or two ago My brother got a gueiny pig he was nice but shy and lazy and never ate one night I was watching tv and I had this really strong feeling that he was going to dye pretty soon because he was getting skiny I had that feeling for a long time but anways I really had the feeling now so when I was done watching the movie I went to look at him I picked him up and he was stiff and dead that might not be the same thing as yours but if so spend as much time with her as you can because it's heart breaking. And just to tell you After he died my brother got a rat and she is so sweet she climes all over you and never wants to leave you they eat anything we give her cat food and guenie pig food and she eats it all hope I helped bye.

You need to get her to a veterinarian who is experienced with guinea pigs as soon as possible. If it you cannot get her in soon, try looking at http://www.guinealynx.com and see if you can find a way to help her until you can get her seen.
She is old, but the lifespan of a guinea pig is 5-8 years. Also, guinea pigs may not be expensive pets but they're still you PET, and you have a responsibility to care for them no matter if they cost $10 or $10000!!

Honestly if you want to spend the money and take her to the vet then go... but I dont see a point spending money on a rodent that didnt cost that much to get in the first place... they are cheap to replace... and I dont think guinea pigs live that long anyways.. Im sorry i couldnt be more help but thats your options... good luck to you and your little hairy piggy..

She needs to see an exotics vet ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is extremely serious once they become lethargic, they go downhill extremely quickly. When you have a pet it's your responsibility to get it vet care. They are not disposable pets!
And by the way, a guinea pigs lifespan is 6-8 years, sometimes longer. Typical of a breeder to not even know that.....

Guinea pigs don't live often past 5 years of age. If she's not eating and getting thinner, she's dieing of old age and there's really nothing you can do but make her comfortable. Older guines pigs are also prone to respiratory infections due to bedding or viruses.

TAKE HER TO THE VET! She might be sick........dont let her suffer like that. Even if its a little costly to take her to a vet, dont kill the poor thing......all because it didn't cost that much. Im sure you have become attached to it........Morever, check out the pet shop and see if they have anything for colds or fevers for small animals, almost like over the counter medicines...they have small stuff like that.....that you can put in their water....or put in their mouths.
