Hi, I'm not the best person to help you (never been engaged...yet) but I really think it's up to the individual. Do what makes you feel comfortable concerning your family; I'm not sure if there are any "rules". You will have to arrange the wedding, so don't rush things and allow yourself time to get used to the idea. Other people should be able to help you more, but congratulations!

There is no time frame what so ever!
You can get engaged and stay that way
for 5 years if you would like too!
I mean, you may want to be engaged,
but you might not want to get married right
away! You may want to wait a few years or months!
I mean some ppl wait and some dont! That is up
to you and your fiancee! That is a decision for you
both to make not for your family and friends to make for you.

I think it depends on whatever you are comfortable with, but I wouldn't wait to long you don't want to change your mind.
