It could be for a number of reasons, timing issues, unemployment, lack of money, unresolved matters with a prior relationship, poor health, depression, a desire for freedom, parenting responsibilities, not enough time available, fear of hurting someone, possible rejection, and the feeling of not being good enough.

Mostly a person would say they weren't ready for a relationship if they just got out of one. Another reason would be there just not interested in you romaticly. Then maybe they just want to date around a little before getting into a serious couple thang.

Probably bacause they realize that they are not ready to be commited to one person. They may not want the responsibility of a relationship in that they don't want to feel as though they "have to call" or "must stay at home with the boyfriend/girlfriend" or they want to be free to spend time with friends whenever they want, rather than knowing they have a boyfriend/girlfriend who is going to be irritated by that.

These are just a few possibilities.

because they got what they wanted from you already.

i don't know, possibly they really are not ready for a relationship, and pursuing one may be unfair to the both of you.

Maybe because they just got through with a tough relationship and they just don't wanna see anyone at the moment.

either the person is not really ready for commitment or the person is being polite to break it to you gently that he/she doesnt like you.
