If he is using his entire income on lottery tickets then I can certainly see a problem. If his buying of lottery tickets is running the risk of you losing your house and/or possessions, then obviously Gamblers Anonymous is not working. If he is only spending 20 or 30 dollars on lottery tickets, then whats the problem.....Most "normal" people buy lottery tickets and lotto every single week. He is lying to you because he knows you will make a big deal out of him buying these lottery tickets. You have to decide if his buying of lottery tickets is out of control or whether it is within your weekly budget. If it is within your weekly budget, then you complaining would be seen as a way to control him. Whilever you try to control him, he will continue to lie to you.

If his buying of lottery tickets is out of control and your lifestyle is suffering because of it then maybe its time to walk away. First things first though......are you making a mountain out of a molehill, or is him buying lottery tickets really a sign he is a chronic gambler? A chronic gambler would be spending his money at the racetrack, on the poker machines. Only you can decide if him buying lottery tickets is disadvantaging you somehow. If it is financally destroying your lifestyle, then it is time to walk away. If it is just a matter of you wanting to control him, then I suggest it is not him who has the problem.

Turn the tables on him. Get chronic in something and then lie about it to him. After awhile, he will figure it out...
